Princess Malia in a Comfortable Win at Belmont Park

Princess Malia a three-year-old daughter of Aragorn easily breaks her maiden on May 13th at Belmont Park.

Princess Malia is the 5th winner for Aragorn at four different major circuit race tracks during the first two weeks of May.

On the turf going seven panels in 1:23.56  and winning by five lengths, the filly now has earned $35,992 from seven lifetime starts.

Out of Hail a Princess by Hail the Ruckus the filly was bred in Florida by Gary Mesnick, Norman Dellheim and W.S. Farish; and races for James A. Riccio.

Princess Malia "patiently stalked the front runners until the quarter pole traveling in the three path on the turn, drew abreast and kept pace with them after entering the stretch, unasked for speed and with each of the others having been asked for some at this juncture, got released from a firm grip on the reins approaching the furlong marker, instantly opened up with a comfortable advantage and easily maintained it, finishing the race under a confident hand ride."

Aragorn Winner at Churchill Downs

Chilaca (Aragorn) got up in the final jump at Churchill Downs on Saturday the 12th of May for his second victory in a row.

The three-year-old out of the Kingmambo mare Ristra has won two in a row (last out at Gulfstream) and has one third from three lifetime starts and earnings of $30,630.

Stretching out for the first time and on turf the sophomore “was bumped at the start, raced close up while off the rail, moved out a bit while leaving the second turn, challenged in midstretch and proved narrowly best.” Chilaca races for owner/breeder Sanford R. Robertson.

Lady of Rivendell Captures Turf Allowance Race

Lady of Rivendell a four-year-old filly by Aragorn took a $36,000 one mile turf allowance race on May 9th at Indiana Downs for her third lifetime victory.

Lady of Rivendell "was along the rail from the outset, raced in contention through the turn, cut the corner into the lane then gained along the rail and ran down the leader."

The filly is out of the G2-placed multiple winner Dynaville (by Barkerville) who was an earner of $158,285.

Lady of Rivendell races for owner/trainer Tanya Boulmetis and was bred in Kentucky by TDV Development Corporation.

Crescent Shore Smashes Belmont Foes in Second Start

Crescent Shore (Aragorn-Crescent Coast, by Country Pine) broke her maiden by 2 1/2 lengths on May 6th at Belmont going six furlongs. The three-year-old filly earned $33,000 for her maiden allowance score.

The filly is out of the stakes winning mare Crescent Coast who earned almost $200,000.

Crescent Shore 'sparred with her foe from the two path, took off and shook free of that opponent during the run through the furlong grounds, held sway, driving.' She races for owner/breeder Paul Rodliff & Stephen Avakian.

Billy Two Hats Takes $51,000 Seven Panel Arlington Purse

Billy Two Hats (Aragorn out of Silent Oath by Dixieland Band) as the post time favorite took the winners share of the $51,840 allowance race purse on May 4th at Arlington Park.

Billy Two Hats a four-year-old bred in Kentucky by W. S. Farish, 'was urged to secure the lead while shifting to the inside, dictated the pace on a narrow margin racing into the bend, then grudgingly held off the challenge racing through the stretch to narrowly prevail' while earning his fifth lifetime victory. Race record is now eleven starts, five wins, two seconds and one third and earnings of $132,302.

Aragorn Sophomore Son ‘Love Reigns’ at Keeneland

Love Reigns, a 2009 colt by Aragorn out of Our Love (by Combat Ready), took this April 20th Keeneland field for his second win in a row; following his maiden breaking effort last out at the Fair Grounds. Our Love is a multiple stakes winner of $371,835 from ten victories.

In 2012 he has two wins and a second in all three starts, overall earnings are now $38,492. Love Reigns ‘settled saving ground, advanced between rivals through the turn, angled out four wide entering the stretch, and was fully extended to wear down his foe in the shadow of the wire.'

Bred in Kentucky and the homebred is owned by Alane, Inc., trained by Steven M. Asmussen and was ridden by Julien R. Leparoux.

Aragorn's Chilaca Goes Wire-to-Wire at Gulfstream

Chilaca (Aragorn-Ristra by Kingmambo) in his second lifetime start takes a group of ten maidens wire-to-wire by 1 3/4 lengths. In the vanquished field of ten were sons of Malibu Moon, Ghostzapper, Tiznow and Bernstein.

The chart reads: Chilaca "set the pace along the rail into the stretch, then inched away."

Bred in the Bluegrass, by his owner Sanford R. Robertson, the sophomore gelding has a win and a third from two starts both at the current Gulfstream meet.

Aragorn Colt Impressive in Win

Sorry No Refunds (Aragorn out of Approve, by Deputy Minister), in his second lifetime start, takes a 6.5 furlong maiden special weights event at Charles Town by 5-3/4’s lengths.

Sorry No Refunds was ‘four wide on the first turn, closed to the lead inside the five-sixteenths pole, was urged clear midway on the final turn then driven off in the stretch.’  Coming off a third place finish in February and from two starts earnings are $18,680.

The colt is a half brother to two stakes horses and was a buy back as a January yearling for $60,000 at Keeneland. Bred in Maryland by Green Willow Farms, races for the connections of R. D. M. Racing Stable and is trained by Michael J. Trombetta.

Aragorn Rouge a four-year-old (Aragorn out of Red Top (IRE), by Fasliyev) won his second all weather surface race in a row on the one mile Dundalk surfcae while defeating a field of 19.

BAILEYS STRIDER (Aragorn out of stakes-placed Missisipi Star) broke his maiden on the all weather surface at Lingfield over a mile in his second lifetime start. Trained by Mark Johnston for owner G R Bailey Ltd (Baileys Horse Feeds) the three-year-old defeated older horses in 1:38.98.

MEDOLINA (Aragorn out of Melody Maiden by Saint Ballado) the three-year-old filly improved her record to two-for-two with an allowance score at Gulfstream Park on January 7th. The sophomore filly drew clear to prevail by 3 1/2 lengths for her owner/breeder Wertheimer et Frere and trainer Todd Pletcher.

MULTIPLE GRADE 1 WINNER ARAGORN RELOCATES TO TOMMY TOWN

Multiple Grade 1 winner and second-crop sire ARAGORN (IRE) has been purchased by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and will relocate to stand at the Santa Ynez, California, farm for the 2012 season.

The nine-year-old by Giant’s Causeway is out of the Mr. Prospector mare Onaga, won six of 14 career starts and earned $1,529,325. He won or placed in eight stakes while making nine starts in the U.S., including victories in the Eddie Read Handicap (G1) at Del Mar and Shoemaker Breeders’ Cup Mile Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita Park in 2006. Aragorn set a 1 1/8-mile course record at Del Mar in his Eddie Read victory in 1:44.79.

ARAGORN arrives in California as the Leading Second Crop sire in the Golden State. He has sired the earners of more than $2,000,000 including 2011 multiple stakes winning juvenile Paco Smart.
